Françoise Masset (Soprano)

Françoise Masset - Soprano
Hailed by the critic Ivan Alexandre as "one of our few, our last sayers", Françoise Masset performs on stage, in concert and on record, a diverse repertoire, from baroque to contemporary, which testifies to her curiosity and her taste for musical meetings.

While favoring the recital (with piano, organ, harpsichord, harp, guitar, theorbo and lute) and chamber music, she created Michèle Reverdy's "Medea" at the Lyon Opera and sung these last years with the Paladins by Jérôme Correas, in three baroque operas, - "Les Indes Galantes" by Jean-Philippe Rameau, "L'Incoronazione di Poppea" and "Il Ritorno d'Ulisse" by Claudio Monteverdi -, with the TM ensemble by Laurent Cuniot in "La Petite Renarde rusée" by Janacek, and with the Musica Nigella ensemble by Takenori Nemoto in "L'Enfant et les sortilèges" by Ravel.

With Les Musiciens de Saint Julien by François Lazarevitch, she created two recitals - "La Veillée imaginaire - harmonized popular tunes from Chopin to Canteloube" and "Yvette Guilbert, Fortune Teller" - and with the Gioannina by Rémi Cassaigne and Nanja Breedijk two Baroque programs - "Orazio Michi dell'Arpa" and "Lettera amorosa".

Previously, she has performed regularly with the Carpe Diem ensemble by Jean-Pierre Arnaud - "Les Nuits d'été" by Hector Berlioz, "Shéhérazade" by Maurice Ravel, "Wesendonck Lieder" by Richard Wagner - and with La Symphony of the Marais by Hugo Reyne - Lully recordings. She has participated in numerous shows on the Péniche Opéra by Mireille Larroche, including some at the Opéra Comique: "Salon Berlioz", "Ubu Opéra" and "Cantates de Bistrot" by Vincent Bouchot, "Les Aventures du Roi Pausole" d 'Arthur Honegger, "Avenged Women" by Philidor, "Isle of Fools" by Duni, etc.

She received the Orphée d'Or 2010 for the best performer of melodies for the album "Les Compositeurs de Marceline Desbordes-Valmore" with Nicolas Stavy and recently recorded with Anne Le Bozec, for the label Hortus, two programs devoted to First World War - "Verdun Feuillettes de guerre" and "Pour en fnir avec la guerre".
